Our 2022-2023 season was an incredible year!

Highlights include our long awaited and critically acclaimed English language premiere production of Fanny Britt’s Benevolence (translation by Leanna Brodie) at Pacific Theatre as their season opener. In January we also had an amazing Advance Theatre Festival, and one of the offerings – Parifam by Aki Yaghoubi– has been picked up and is being premiered at The Cultch next season!

Our Advance Theatre Festival also boasted an extra week to showcase a workshopped presentation of Lee Nisar’s Dil Ka, the story of a young Pakistani bride-to-be coming out to themselves and their family while preparing a meal for their fiancé. We then ended the season at the Cultch’s Femme Festival, producing Yvonne Wallace’s poignant solo show, útszan (to make better), about family, language and cultural reclamation.

Any and all donations given this week will help set the stage for next season, one of our most ambitious, by giving us a head start for the upcoming: two more premiere productions, The Advance Theatre Festival featuring new works by diverse, historically under-represented artists, an Artist in Residency program, a translation of a crucial new work from Québec, play development, and lots of local storytelling.

Thanks again for being a part of the 2022/23 season! We can’t wait to see you back at the theatre in the Fall!
