Leanna Brodie is an actor, playwright, and translator whose work has been performed from Halifax to Vancouver and from Auckland to London. Ulla’s Odyssey, her award-winning opera with Anthony Young, recently toured the UK with OperaUpClose.
Her plays The Vic, For Home and Country, The Book of Esther, and Schoolhouse are published by Talonbooks. She is also a leading translator of Québécois playwrights, with 2019-2020 productions in Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Toronto, Montréal, Miami, Chicago, and Ithaca, where her translation of David Paquet’s 2019 Jessie Award-winning The Shoe premieres next month. This season in Vancouver, watch for her translation of Sébastien Harrisson’s From Alaska (Ruby Slippers Theatre/Gateway Theatre in April). Brodie is currently a Playwrights Theatre Centre Associate, co-writing Salesman in China with Jovanni Sy. She will be teaching PTC’s Block A this fall for the second time. www.leannabrodie.com
