Don’t miss the world premiere of a bold, heartfelt and fast-paced story that flips the script on the Canadian immigrant dream.
Inventive. Heartfelt. Defiant.

What if your future depended on winning a game designed for you to fail?
A recipient of the Arts Club Theatre Company’s Silver Commission, part of Ruby Slippers Theatre’s 2026 Advance Theatre Festival, and written by Lieutenant Governor’s Arts and Music Award-winner Alexandra Lainfiesta, Bella Luz is a fierce, fast-paced, and inventive dive into the world of the modern immigrant experience.
Sumailla is an unstoppable dancer who takes a job in the high-octane film stunt industry to build a life in Canada. But as her on-set life directly collides with her family’s reality back home in Guatemala, Sumailla wrestles with the moral compromises needed to secure her future in Canada.
Blending razor-sharp parody and bold theatrical energy, Bella Luz exposes the contradictions of an immigrant’s experience in Canada with equal parts humor and heart.
